Mr. Cole did not do his homework when reporting the story concerning Jeff Wagonseller being put on administrative leave for a “history of sexual allegations” (“Cabrillo High School principal on administrative leave has history of sexual misconduct allegations,” Sept. 21). As a former employee of Lompoc Unified School District I can assure you this is “old news.” There was one allegation made, which came to light before Wagonseller became principal at Cabrillo High School in 2014. The district and school board investigated the allegations and found no merit to them as Wagonseller was later awarded the principal position at Cabrillo.

Lompoc Unified School District currently has a very toxic administration. I find it curious, that suddenly, after Wagonseller has been an administrator in the district for more that 12 years, parents are raising concerns about the “safety” of their children. This article is not news, but an attempt to make someone appear guilty based on unsubstantiated allegations alone.

Of course no one wants a child molester working with children in schools. However, to make an allegation that Jeff Wagonseller has a “history” of sexual misconduct should be substantiated with evidence before it is reported as news. This article falls far short of providing that history.
