Anxiety. Grief. Depression. A perfect recipe for dark comedy.
Aaron Foster is bringing his stand-up show, Mostly Jokes, to the Santa Maria Civic Theatre on Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
The comedian quit his job when he was 50, and now, a few years later, he’s been touring more than 70 cities and hopes to tape Mostly Jokes as his first special by the end of the year.
“Mostly Jokes is a darkly funny look at his strained relationship with his bipolar father, his strained relationship with his schizophrenic brother, his strained relationship with network TV executives, and his strained relationship with … wait for it … himself,” press materials promised.
At last year’s Tucson Fringe Festival, Foster’s routine was named Best Solo Show. He also hosted FreeStyle on HGTV and has acted in “numerous films you’ve (hopefully) never seen,” according to his website.
“The guy is still trying to ‘make it’ in Hollywood,” according to press materials. “The odds are long, but how hard can it be? Especially when this time, he’s got a secret weapon. Honesty.”
