I agree with Libby Breen ("Lowering the bar," Oct. 11) in her letter to the Sun: "Drain the swamp. Vote."

However, I do not agree with the rest of the comments in the letter. What ever happened to "innocent until proven guilty?" As it turns out, there was no evidence against Kavanaugh, except the testimony of a woman that was shown to be without substance.

First of all, let me be clear, the accusations made by Ms. Ford were something that was worth pursuing, even if it was 36 years ago. And who among us did something in high school that we wouldn't want the world to know about? But that does not excuse the act"if it were true. Just using the report from Rachel Mitchell, the nominations investigative counsel, to point out Ms. Ford's testimony shows that she is not a credible witness. Look up the report and see for yourself.

So, why did she lie, and why did the Democrats use her as a tool to try and prevent Kavanaugh's appointment, even when they knew she was not telling the truth? And why do so many people (like Libby) believe her story? I believe that Ford wanted to get some fame, or maybe get even for his mother's (Judge Martha Kavanaugh) judgement on her parents' home foreclosure. Democrats were desperate to do anything to unseat Kavanaugh, and many people just don't follow up on news and investigate the issue themselves, and believe what they want to.

So, yes, "Drain the swamp. Vote," to get out those self-serving Democrats.
