Ignorance demands rebuttal, and in this case, I must challenge Roy Berger (“No-tax groups are really un-American,” May 13). Because I or others like me are against taxes does not make us racists. What was the original Tea Party about, Roy? Taxes, not race.
When you can’t argue your side with facts, Roy, and must label those who don’t think as you do as racists, you have already lost your argument. I assume you are referring to the hoards of illegal aliens sucking our country dry when you accuse us “racists” of hiding in sheep’s clothing while we object to more taxes. Do you know, Roy, that it is estimated that illegal aliens cost the state of California $11 billion—that’s right: billion with a “b” dollars—every year?
If I’m in sheep’s clothing because I’m tired of paying for non-citizens to benefit at my country’s expense, then I’m proud of it. Better that than being one of the sheep who are constantly fleeced and are too dumb to realize it.
Yes, Roy, I believe in our country’s welcome to the tired, the poor, the huddled masses and those yearning to breathe free, but you forget one important point: They must be legal. So for those like you, Roy, who keep paying taxes and who don’t question anything, trusting government to do what is right and not waste our money, I pity you. Or, to put it in language you flock of sheep can better understand: BAAAA-BAAAA! Lead me to the fleecing shed and let me keep paying more and more!
