After hearing widespread reports that Univision—Santa Maria’s only Spanish-speaking TV news affiliate—would be going off air within the week, station management released this statement:
“KPMR-DT Channel 21 is not closing. As the Spanish-language leader in the Santa Barbara market, we remain dedicated to serving our loyal audience. We currently expect the last broadcast of KPMR’s local on-air news program to take place on Dec. 30. However, KPMR will continue to provide our viewers with news and information that is important to them through the broadcast of Univision’s nationally syndicated evening news, public service announcements, information provided on the station’s website and other local initiatives.”
