Rendezvous Home & Garden has returned to its roots in the Broadway Pavilion Shopping Center in Santa Maria, re-occupying the space where the business first opened its doors 11 years ago. Though the square footage is less than it once was, the store itself remains an inviting, relaxing place where customers can meander through different room settings—living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms—and begin to visualize how they might decorate their own abode.

Rendezvous is a family-owned-and-operated business, offering friendly, personalized attention from skilled design professionals. The business is owned by Kitty and Dave Ziegler and their son and daughter-in-law Jason and Debbie Manville. Kitty and the Manvilles are the face of the business, and have years of professional experience in interior design, space planning, custom window treatment, and more.

The company prides itself on providing unique home accessories for any budget. Rendezvous is committed to helping people create the home of their dreams.

ā€œWe provide hands-on service from the minute customers walk through the door until their furniture is delivered to their home. If you don’t find anything you like in the store, we can order customized items for you. We can come out to your home, offer space-planning advice, lend fabric samples from a huge library of books—anything you need,ā€ Ziegler explained.

ā€œWe don’t want customers to waste their hard-earned money on the wrong furniture or accessory. And decorating can be expensive, but it certainly doesn’t have to be. We don’t design to our tastes, but try to create the home that customers truly want and need,ā€ she continued.

The store’s dĆ©cor is both calming and engaging. The muted greens, aquas, and taupes set a tone of relaxation. Accent colors, rugs, paintings, candles, and furniture all work together to create an appealing, homey environment. Leather couches, decorative pillows, artwork, and unique cabinets showcase the talent and taste of the owners.

Rendezvous has survived its various moves with the support of its many local, loyal customers who value the talents of the owners and who enjoy stopping by and seeing the latest room arrangements and accessories.

ā€œI have customers whose entire home is filled with items from Rendezvous,ā€ Ziegler said. ā€œWe also have customers who buy all their holiday gifts from us because we carry a lot of fun, affordable, one of-a-kind items.ā€

Rendezvous’ recent move reflects the business climate. Its original move to a larger space was in response to the strong economic growth at that time: The housing market was brisk, and property values were escalating. Eventually, however, given the lingering recession, they had to scale back the size of their store. But what makes Rendezvous unique is the owners’ desire to stay in business and serve their loyal client base despite the economic conditions.

Ā ā€œIt is interesting being back in the space where our business started. But people still walk through our doors and know they are at Rendezvous. One of our clients even coined the term ā€˜DĆ©jĆ  vu at Rendezvous’ to describe the feeling of visiting us in our old space. It is still a place where they want to be,ā€ Ziegler said proudly.

Rendezvous is at 2530 S. Broadway, suite C. Call the store at 928-4356.
