Going out on a Friday or Saturday evening is something we all enjoy doing. But sometimes it gets a little hectic deciding what to wear. We all want to look our best. And for many of us, that implies some last-minute shopping for an outfit. But where does one go?
In March, Parallel Edit is coming to Santa Maria. The one-stop shop wants to dress customers from head to toe in the latest trends and fashions, all for a reasonable price, too.
Owners Michael and Silvia Sun are dedicated to bringing style and affordability, along with a family friendly business atmosphere, to Santa Maria. Silvia, who was born and raised in Orange County, came to the Central Coast asking some of the very same questions women from this area ask, such as, “Where in town can I find an outfit that’s trendy and affordable?”
“And that’s the inspiration; to provide clothes that are in style, LA fashion. We want the things off the runway, but [that are] also affordable and high quality,” Silvia said.
“See it, want it, and find it in Santa Maria,” she added.
Silvia, whose family has a history in the clothing industry, described how Parallel Edit is a dream come true for both her and her sister Angela, who’s also helping run the business.
“Having a business like this is every girl’s dream,” she said. “Clothes are a staple of life. Growing up, our house was something like a mini mall—the closet came to life.”
Silvia said she appreciates the people of Santa Maria and how personable they are toward you everywhere you go, and that she hopes her business will reflect that.
“LA fashion with a family friendly feel,” Silvia said. “We want women of all ages to come in and be able to find what they’re looking for. We pride ourselves on versatility, whether a woman’s looking for a prom dress or just an outfit for work, accessories, jewelry … we’re going to have it for you.”
The grand opening of Parallel Edit is on March 15. DJ Cortez from 95.7 The Beat will be in the building mixing it up, and Silvia said it’s going to be a really fun atmosphere for people to come by and enjoy live music while getting a first look at the new store. The first 100 ladies in the door will receive gift cards of up to $100 each. The big party starts at 4 p.m.
“We’re starting it off with a bang! Invite your friends and come down and have a good time with us,” Silvia said.

On March 17, the Buellton Chamber of Commerce is holding a chili cook-off, salsa competition, and wine tasting event from noon to 4 p.m. at Flying Flags RV Resort in Buellton. The community, restaurants, nonprofits, clubs, churches, neighborhoods, and more are invited to enter the cook-off. Cash prizes will be awarded for the best red chili, chili verde, salsa, and booth showmanship.
