The Santa Maria-Bonita School District recently announced its plan to once again offer free breakfast and lunch to all students through the federal Universal Free Meals Program, which has been available in the school district since 2005.
The Santa Maria-Bonita School District serves about 4.2 million meals to its students each year, according to a district press release. Because a majority of families are eligible for free meals, the district is able to serve all its students at no charge.
To continue offering two free meals a day to students, the school district is required to have a Free and Reduced Priced Meal Application on file for every family with children in the district, according to the release. The district recently sent applications and eligibility guidelines to all families with children in the district. Administrators said in a press release that itās important for all families to complete the application.
Application completion assistance is being offered in English and Spanish at schools and the district office. For more information, parents can call 361-8102.
