The city of Santa Maria needs representatives to serve on the Block Grant Advisory Committee and Library Board of Trustees. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on July 2. There will be five people appointed to the Block Grants Advisory Committee for three-year terms. Members are responsible for conducting public workshops and hearings, reviewing applications for funding, and making recommendations to the City Council for the allocation of grant money. According to a press release from the city, applicants should have an understanding of housing and community development needs and knowledge of or a background in providing human services. The committee meets the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. The city is looking for two new members to serve three-year terms on the Library Board of Trustees Committee. Members set library rules and regulations and advise the City Council on library matters. The board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Members for both positions are nominated by individual City Council members, appointed by the mayor, and confirmed by the City Council.
