Got a speeding ticket you need to make disappear? There’s still space for students who need to attend the eight-hour traffic school offered by Allan Hancock College Community Education.
Classes are available in English and Spanish, and the course fee is $32.
Hancock’s traffic school is a California Department of Motor Vehicles-approved course that focuses on reducing the number of future driving violations.
Students are required to present their traffic citation and pre-register in person at the Community Education office [building S] on the Santa Maria campus. At the first class meeting, students must present a photo ID, the court-issued case or docket number for their violation, and a registration receipt. A California DMV certificate is issued upon completion of the course.
Classes in English will be held on July 11 and 12 from 6 to 10 p.m. in room CBC-32, behind Costco. Classes in Spanish will be held July 25 and Aug. 1 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the same location.
Of course, there are plenty more enjoyable classes available at Hancock as well.
Even if you have two left feet, you can learn do-se-do basics in a new line dancing class also being offered by Hancock’s Community Education. Having a partner isn’t necessary.
The class meets on Wednesdays July 13 through Aug. 3, from 6:30 to 7:55 p.m. at the Luis Oasis Senior Center, 420 Soares Ave., in Orcutt.
Taught by Jeannette Bergeron, the class is for people ages 15 and older and costs $30. Registration must be received by July 6.
Register online at hancockcollege.edu or in person at the Community Education office (building S) on the Santa Maria campus. Registration hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
