The man who died in a June 26 house fire in Nipomo is being remembered for his love of music, which he shared with others by running a recording studio.
Friends offered condolences and memories of Thomas Edward Gingell, 61, on social media in the wake of his death. Gingell was the owner and operator of Moon Productions and Recording Studio.
“RIP Thom,” Los Osos resident Gino Sagginario wrote. “I had a lot of fun and learned a ton at your studio, as many folks did.”
Gingell was found dead after first responders were called to a house fire at a residence in the 1800 block of Pomeroy Road in rural Arroyo Grande, near Nipomo. According to online records, the location is listed as both Gingell’s address and as the address for Moon Productions and Recording Studio.
According to Moon Productions’ Facebook page, the studio was founded in 1989, and recorded more than 250 CDs, as well as provided editing and other services for video projects such as documentaries and industrial and home videos.
In their messages on Gingell’s personal social media, several friends praised him for his love of music.
“May you find peace, my friend, and enjoy the music of the universe,” SLO County resident Rita Shannon wrote.
While Gingell’s friends and family mourn, the investigation into how he died continues. The SLO County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that it has opened an investigation into Gingell’s death, and Cal Fire is also investigating the cause of the fire. Sheriff’s officials said an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause and manner of Gingell’s death.
