A woman in Lompoc is suing the Lompoc Police Department (LPD) after she said officers entered her home illegally, according to a lawsuit filed in Santa Barbara County Superior Court on April 8.Ā

The lawsuit, which was filed in Santa Maria’s Cook Division, stems from an incident on April 9, 2014, when Jari Blake said officers from the LPD called and informed Blake that her house was being burglarized.Ā

According to the lawsuit, Blake accused the officers of entering her home despite telling them that she’d be there in a matter of minutes.Ā

The lawsuit states officers walked in on Spring Morrissey, Blake’s daughter-in-law, who was ā€œnearly nakedā€ after taking a shower.Ā

Blake alleged that the officers violated her constitutional rights and accused them of malice, fraud, and oppression.Ā

ā€œThe Lompoc Police Department orchestrated a concerted policy of harassment towards plaintiffs,ā€ the lawsuit states.Ā

As a result, Blake said she suffered wage loss, hospital and medical expenses, and general damage. She is suing for more than $10,000, but less than $25,000, according to the lawsuit.

Blake and the LPD didn’t respond to inquiries from the Sun before press time.Ā
