The Santa Barbara Foundation announced the creation of a new fund to provide grants for food, shelter, and medical care assistance to nonprofit groups in the community.

The Community Economic Recovery Fund will award grants of up to $50,000 in emergency relief for established organizations that assess needs and provide basic services to people who’ve lost jobs, homes, or who can’t otherwise afford basic living expenses.

Organizations may apply for one of two types of grants: an impact grant of $50,000 or an emergency services grant of $10,000. Proposal requests have been sent to social
services that provide food, shelter, and medical care—as well as those that provide support for substance abuse, mental health, domestic
violence, and child abuse.
