The Santa Maria Fire Department responded Feb. 17 to reports of an RV fire outside of Western Propane on Meredith Lane. Battalion Chief Ed Hadfield said witnesses saw a man exit the RV shortly before it went up in flames, spurring investigators to treat it as an arson case. The man was taken into custody for a brief time and then released. The cause of the fire was still under investigation as of press time.
