Ā  More thanĀ 100 C&D Zodiac employees and volunteers personally created and painted outdoor and indoor murals for the school. The company also funded the project through its very own nonprofit Give & Grow grant program.

ā€œI feel like I’m on cloud nine. The kids are so excited,ā€ Fairlawn Principal Toni Kelly said, adding she’s glad the volunteers were able to paint on a school day.

ā€œIt helps the kids understand what volunteerism is. [The art] isn’t just this magic gift that showed up over night. They’re setting a great example for the kids and for the community,ā€ Kelly said.

Each year, C&D Zodiac selects a Southern California school for its grant project. Employees and volunteers painted murals at Alvin Elementary School in Santa MariaĀ last year.

The company, which has branches in Santa Maria and Huntington Beach, designs and manufactures airplane interiors. It established the Give & Grow grant program in 2007. Other Give & Grow community service projects in Southern California have included student tutoring and mentoring and providing after-school programs.
