Altrusa of the Central Coast and WonHeart have reunited to connect women and teenagers, motivate them, and devise a way to make positive advancements in their lives. The groups will accomplish those goals through their third annual International Women’s Event, held March 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the newly renovated UDW Homecare Providers Union Hall in Santa Maria.

In honor of International Women’s Day, the event will feature three keynote speakers discussing topics ranging from empowerment through financial education to ā€œdream buildingā€ and living a balanced life to nutritional advice for those looking to make a lifestyle change.

Along with talks on these subjects, there will also be organic food and an array of informational booths.

WonHeart is a local nonprofit organization committed to bolstering the community so everyone feels secure, important, and revered for the individual they are. Joelyn Lutz, a Santa Maria resident, started the group as a way to give back to the community.

ā€œThere is so much phenomenal information out there right now,ā€ Lutz said. ā€œIf young ladies are included, then minds will be inspired globally.ā€

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 or at the door for $20. Mother/daughter tickets are $20 for both, and teenagers are free. All proceeds benefit the community by funding programs that promote literacy, bullying prevention, and more.

For more information or to purchase tickets, call Lutz at 714-1025, email her at wonheart@verizon.net, or visit wonheartinfo.org.
