The American GI Forum (AGIF) and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) recently joined efforts to award scholarships to seven local college-bound students.

Seven students received scholarships to attend Allan Hancock College, Santa Barbara City College, Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, San Francisco State University, and Maitripa College.

This was the 32nd year of awarding scholarships for the American GI Forum Santa Maria Chapter, and the first for LULAC, a newly formed local council. Both organizations will be awarding scholarship grants in order to inspire students to continue their path to higher academic and financial success.

ā€œWe aren’t just awarding scholarships; we’re committed to continue supporting the students in any way that we can so that they attain their educational goals,ā€ Helen GalvĆ”n, a representative for the groups, said in a statement.
