A Christmas Carol opened last week and runs through Dec. 18 at the Santa Maria Civic Theatre (SMCT). The show starts at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with matinee performances at 1:30 p.m. on Sundays. The community is encouraged to come early for preshow entertainment.

Doris Baizley adapted the show and Rob Paulus directed this steampunk version of A Christmas Carol, described in a SMCT press release as ā€œa play within a play.ā€ The plot revolves around a struggling theater troupe performing A Christmas Carol in a deserted warehouse. The cast includes David Bathe as Scrooge, Jim Dahmen as Crachit, and Milania Espinoza as Tiny Tim.

The Santa Maria Civic Theatre is located at 1660 N. McClelland St., Santa Maria. For more info: 922-4442 or smct.org.Ā
