The Poetic Justice Project, a local theater company of formerly incarcerated actors and artists, celebrates the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Reentry Week with a fundraiser dinner on April 24, the first day of reentry week. The national week began in recognition of the demand for effective reentry services for the millions of Americans who are released from incarceration each year.

The event, titled Art & Soul, features live music by local singer Amaris Laurette Taylor and soul food catered by Papa Jay’s Southern Quezine of Guadalupe. There will also be art items for sale and auction at the event. Funds will support the Poetic Justice Project, a program of the William James Association.

Art & Soul begins at 4 p.m., costs $40, and takes place at the Cornerstone Community Room, 705 S. McClelland St., Santa Maria. Tickets are available at 800-838-2006. More information is available at deborah@poeticjusticeproject.org or poeticjusticeproject.org.
