The Pacific Conservatory Theatre (PCPA) will stream two live readings of George Brant’s Into the Breeches!, the first on Friday, March 5, at 7 p.m., and the second on Saturday, March 5, at 1:30 p.m. The reading is roughly two hours in length, with one five-minute intermission, and both presentations will be followed with an artists’ talkback.
Director Andrew Philpot guides this reading of the moving comedy about an acting troupe that sets out to produce an all-female version of Shakespeare’s Henriad, while all of its male actors have left the company to go fight during World War II. The show is described in press materials as a “celebration of collaboration, female fortitude, friendship, and the healing power of theater.”
The cast of Into the Breeches! includes Kitty Balay, Polly Firestone Walker, Katie Fuchs-Wackowski, Erik Stein, Emily Trask, Don Stewart, Meami Maszewski, Evelyn-Claire Smith, and George Walker. Admission to stream the show is $10.
Other upcoming entries in PCPA’s InterPlay series include readings of Tira Palmquist’s Two Degrees (Friday, March 12, and Saturday, March 13), and Tanya Saracho’s Fade (Friday, March 19, and Saturday, March 20).
