Anglers of all ages will be fishing for cash prizes at the eighth annual Reel ’Em In Trout Derby set for May 2 and 3 at Lopez Lake.
The grand prize for the most tagged trout is $3,000. Second place wins $1,000, and $500 will be awarded for third. Kids 15 and younger and adults can win $300 for catching the longest trout, $100 for second place, and $50 for third.
Registration costs $45 and includes entry into the derby, a raffle ticket, a T-shirt, and a Sunday barbecue ticket.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of Lopez Lake, San Luis Obispo County Parks, and radio station 99.1, The Fox.
