The Orcutt Children’s Arts Foundation (OCAF) celebrates its fifth annual Chalk Festival in Old Town Orcutt on Sept. 24. The fundraising event welcomes visitors for an afternoon of amateur and professional-level chalk painting, with all proceeds going toward arts programs for kids in Orcutt schools.

The festivities this year include live performances, kids’ crafts, and games. Local artists and families can donate money for an area on the sidewalk and some chalk to help transform the space into a colorful piece of art.

The event also includes a featured artist this year named Ever Galvez. Galvez is a classically trained artist who has won awards for his work, including his stunningly realistic street paintings. The Santa Maria Arts Council, Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation, and the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce commissioned the work by Galvez. The organizations also helped fund the featured performing artists Julie Garnye and Michael Katz.

The OCAF Chalk Festival happens Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Old Town Orcutt. More information is available at ocafonline.com or 938-8966.
