Sept. 28 marks the fourth annual youth boat regatta at the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center in Santa Maria.
Children ages 12 to 18 will work together in teams of two to build a boat from cardboard and duct tape. Once they have their watercraft built, the team members will race their boats across the 50-meter pool.
There will be prizes available for best boat, best sink, most spirit, and best decorated boat. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
