Riddle Walk is the first event in the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Fall/Winter 2014 Let’s Walk series. It’s also free. Participants can exercise their minds by solving riddles as they stroll through Preisker Park on Sept. 6 starting at 10 a.m. Walkers who arrive early can use the newly installed Life Trail exercise equipment for a good warm up.

The next walk in the series is the Catchin’ Colors Run/Walk on Oct. 4, which is a 1-mile course where participants can be showered with colored powders. Everyone will receive a T-shirt and sunglasses. Registration is $15 until Sept. 5, and $20 thereafter. The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. at a location that has yet to be determined. Register online at active.com or at the Recreation and Parks offices, 615 S. McClelland St. in Santa Maria.
