The Lompoc Valley Art Association is holding its monthly meeting and art program at 7 p.m. on April 3 at Stone Pine Hall, 210 South H St., Lompoc. Social ā€œhourā€ starts at 6:30 p.m.

The guest artist will be Doyle Burkey, a retired technical illustrator now enjoying his creative freedom working in watercolor. He’ll be bringing his ā€œtools of the tradeā€ and will talk about the techniques he uses to create paintings, which have evolved from detailed realism through stylized landscapes into colorful mindscapes.

The association aims to create a better cultural environment in Lompoc, help artists develop their talents, promote art, and maintain the Cypress Gallery. Refreshments are served at the meeting. The public is invited to attend, and new members are welcome.
