Celebrate the Fourth of July a little early with the Lompoc Pops Orchestra’s recognition of America’s 250th birthday. The group’s performance on June 21 will honor those who have served the country through tributes to the nation’s Broadway, Hollywood, opera, and Americana traditions.

“The program will feature familiar patriotic favorites, stirring selections, and a special military tribute recognizing all branches of service,” according to press materials.

Listeners can expect pieces by Leonard Bernstein, Henry Mancini, and George Gershwin. Hear from baritone Ralph Cato, soprano Thalia Moore, and cellist Megan Chartier.

“Together these works create a dynamic and welcoming musical experience that celebrates America’s diverse artistic legacy, past, present, and future,” the organization announced.

Showtime begins at 4 p.m. on June 21 at the First Methodist Church of Lompoc, located at 925 N. F St. General admission costs $25, but children under 12 are welcome at no cost. There are discounts for active-duty military service members and full-time students with a valid ID. Buy tickets at The Box Shop, Lompoc Valley Florist, or at the door.
