The Lompoc Museum is currently showing an exhibition of paintings by local artist Carol J. Oliveira with a theme focusing on happiness. Things that Make Me Smile features paintings of subjects that Oliveira enjoys, like faith, family, friends, children, animals, scenery, and missions.

Oliveira moved to Lompoc in 1969 without ever having painted, but that changed soon after she began living in the city of art and flowers. After studying with Dee Sudbury and Leslie Mayer, Oliveira began her adventures in painting using media such as oils and acrylics. She’s also a member of the Lompoc Valley Art Association and the chair of the Lompoc Mural Society.

The Lompoc Museum is located at 200 South H St. in Lompoc. It’s open Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. More information is available at 736-3888 or lompocmuseum.org.
