The tennis courts at Los Olivos Elementary School have been looking a little ragged and in need of some care. With this in mind, the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians is joining forces with Santa Ynez Valley Youth Recreation to give the courts a new, state-of-the-art surface.

A press release revealed that the Los Olivos tennis courts were originally built by the Santa Ynez Valley Elks in 1977; decades of wear, tear, and weather have made the courts virtually unusable.

ā€œOur intention is to add something to the school that the entire community can use,ā€ said Frank Kelsey, chairman of Santa Ynez Valley Youth Recreation. ā€œBut our motto is: The youngest group applying for use has highest priority—kids first.ā€
