The Allan Hancock College baseball team will head into the 2012 season ranked 10th in Southern California in the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association’s preseason poll, the school announced on Nov. 7.

In addition to their regional spot, the Bulldogs are ranked 24th in the Junior College Pacific Association’s Division poll, covering California, Oregon, and Washington.

The Bulldogs finished last season 12-8 in the Western State Conference and 21-17 overall, appearing in the playoffs for the third straight year. Every sophomore player on the team transferred to a four-year university.

Hancock baseball begins its 2012 season on Feb. 3 against Compton College, followed by a road game against Santa Ana College, the top-ranked team in the coaches association’s pre-season poll. The Bulldogs’ first home game is Feb. 7 against Bakersfield College.
