ServiceMaster Anytime is the sponsor of the first-ever Golf Ball Drop at California’s Lemon Festival and Safety Street Sept. 29 at Girsh Park in Goleta.
Working with the Santa Barbara Firefighters Alliance, Team ServiceMaster is busy collecting donated golf balls for the event.
According to a recent firefighters alliance press release, all of the purchased balls will be loaded into a ladder truck and then dumped over a massive bull’s eye painted onto Safety Street. The owner of whichever golf ball lands closest to the bull’s eye will split the proceeds 50/50 with the alliance.
“We are hoping to really gain community support and sell over 500 golf balls,” said Justin Haagen, marketing director for ServiceMaster Anytime. “This will give us a money pot of somewhere between $4,500 and $5,000.”
Interested donors have the option to purchase golf balls in advance from ServiceMaster team members. Balls cost $10 each or three for $25, and they will also be available for sale at the Golf Ball Drop booth on the day of the event.
“What better way to involve our community in saying thank you to our firefighters for all they do all year long than by helping to raise money for equipment that will ultimately be used for the community?” Haagen said.
