Though Firestone Walker Brewing Company brews had to travel quite a ways to the European Beer Star Competition in Munich, Germany, the local drafts won several honors at the prestigious competition.

Brewmaster Matt Brynildson was present at the competition, where Firestone Walker’s Pale 31 received the “Consumers’ Favourite in Gold” distinction. This is the second year in a row that Firestone Walker received the award. Firestone Walker’s Pale 31, Union Jack IPA, and Double Jack IPA all earned gold medals as well at the competition, which included 1,512 beers from 40 countries. The brews were judged by 102 expert tasters, including brewmasters, beer sommeliers, and specialized journalists. Firestone Walker took home three of the gold medals available in the 51 beer categories determined by blind taste testing.
