The Cachuma Lake Nature Center is inviting young anglers between 5 and 15 years old to participate in Old Fashioned Fishing Day on Nov. 6 at the lake’s swimming pool.

From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., children will be able to fish for rainbow trout using bamboo poles, bobbers, and bait. Experienced local anglers will be on hand to assist each youngster, and children can keep their catch for dinner.

Volunteers will clean fish for $1 each, and tickets may be purchased at the pool for this service. Afterwards, adults with valid fishing licenses will be able to fish between 1 and 3 p.m. using Nature Center cane poles and bobbers.

Participants will be admitted in 20-minute intervals, and tickets with the admission time marked on them will be handed out at the beginning of the morning. Tickets are free with an $8 park admission charge per vehicle.
