White Buffalo Land Trust’s call for artists is open through Aug. 30 for 2027 residencies. The program asks the selected artists to explore how creativity and ecology intersect.
“Through this residency, we are creating space for artists to spend meaningful time with the land and the people who steward it and to interpret what they discover through their own creative practice,” Director of Programs and Engagement Ana Smith said in press materials. “The work that emerges can help all of us see familiar landscapes differently and imagine new possibilities for how we relate to the places that sustain us.”
Each artist in residence will live at the 1,000-acre Jalama Canyon Ranch for anywhere from six weeks to three months between March and November. During their time, artists will participate in an event with the public and an educational workshop with local high school students. Chosen applicants will receive living and materials stipends, travel reimbursement, and accommodations on the property.
The nonprofit welcomes artists from a variety of disciplines to apply to the program. The end results will help the community understand regenerative agriculture and the importance of the landscape.
