The Elverhoj Museum of History and Art unveiled its Crossing Paths exhibition to the public on Saturday, Aug. 10. The show will remain on display through Nov. 3 and features paintings by Eyvind Earle and sculptures by John Cody. The two artists first crossed paths in Solvang during the late 1960s. Over the next few decades, their lives and artistic endeavors often intersected, according to the museum.

ā€œTwo separate journeys brought these artists together, spawning a lasting friendship and energizing their work,ā€ Elverhoj Executive Director Esther Jacobsen Bates said in a press release. ā€œThis creative union was driven by Cody’s new body of work. After a 10-year hiatus, he has returned to carving stone with a renewed passion and vision.ā€

The exhibit includes the debut of Cody’s newest sculpture as well as other recent works from the artist. In celebration of Earle’s work as a background painter on Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, a screening of the film will be held at the museum on Friday, Sept. 6. The exhibit’s programming will also include an artist talk with Cody on Saturday, Sept. 28, and a stone carving demonstration on Saturday, Oct. 12.

The Elverhoj Museum of History and Art is located at 1624 Elverhoy Way, Solvang. Crossing Paths can be viewed during the museum’s regular hours: Wednesday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, but a suggested donation of $5 is encouraged.
