The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival presents “SLO County on the Silver Screen,” a film screening series celebrating films shot and made locally, as part of the festival’s 20th anniversary. A screening of Cecil B. DeMille’s 1923 silent production of The Ten Commandments, which was filmed in the Guadalupe Dunes, will be screened on Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. at the Guadalupe City Hall, 918 Obispo St., Guadalupe. Cost is $10.

A recent excavation of artifacts left under the dunes, spearheaded by filmmaker Peter Brosnan, is on display at the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center, just down the street from the theater. Brosnan will be on hand at the screening, signing copies of his book and talking about the behind-the-scenes stories involved with the film.
