In conjunction with the annual Elks Rodeo, the People for Leisure and Youth will be hosting the first-ever Elks Rodeo Stampede 1-Mile Run on June 5 in Santa Maria.
The race begins at Broadway and Main, the starting point for the Elks Parade, and ends a mile south at the intersection of Broadway and Stowell. As the parade kicks off, runners will commence down the route in front of 20,000 spectators.
The entry fee is $15 and benefits youth recreation and leisure in the Santa Maria Valley. An event T-shirt is included and will be available on race day. Runners ages 5 and older are encouraged to compete.
Participants can register at the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department, 615 S. McClelland St., or online at santamariaatplay.org. The deadline to sign up is June 4 at 4:30 p.m. There will be no race day registration.
