A press release from Hancock Athletics announced that six Allan Hancock College baseball players earned scholarships to four-year universities.
Marc Baker, Nathan Thompson, and Felipe Gonzalez—all Central Coast natives—will be headed to play for NAIA programs. Meanwhile, Zack Skipper, Ryan Welker, and Zach Nyman will play for Division II programs.
“I am very proud of our sophomores for proving you can start at Hancock and go anywhere,” head coach Chris Stevens said in the press release. “Every one of our sophomores is attending a four-year university or beginning a professional career. It speaks volumes for the program and the student athletes.”
An additional press release announced that after one year with the men’s basketball team, assistant coach Matt Okada will be taking his coaching to the next level at Cal Poly in Pomona.
“I am excited to return to the four-year level of coaching and join one of the elite Division II programs in the nation,” Okada said. “The job will also get me closer to my hometown.”
