The Santa Maria Arts Council is holding informational workshops for its annual Grants Competition. The council awards grants of $1,500 and $1,000 to first- and second-place winners in dance, drama, music, and visual arts.
Interested artists must attend one of the informational meetings in order to compete and learn the requirements for competing artists. To be eligible, applicants must be 12 or older and have studied art in Northern Santa Barbara County for a minimum of two years. Geographic limits are Santa Ynez to Lompoc, Santa Maria, Guadalupe, and Cuyama.
Workshops include a Feb. 13 meeting at 6 p.m. at Allan Hancock Collegeās Student Center, 800 S. College, Santa Maria; Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Allan Hancock College Lompoc Center, Room 1-204/5, Lompoc; and March 2 at 10 a.m. at Allan Hancock College, Room F-11, Santa Maria. Application deadline is March 22 with judging on April 20.
