Magic for music
Experience some magic with the Philharmonic Society at its benefit banquet and auction, set for Jan. 24 at the Santa Maria Country Club. The theme for the night is āItās Magic.ā
The evening begins with a cocktail hour and bidding on silent auction items at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.
Some of the auction items include dinner for six at Chef Rickās, a home wine tasting party for 30 guests, a Mark Brunell autographed football, a party for 10 at MotionZ, several gift certificates for dinners out, an overnight stay for two at the Radisson Hotel, a floral arrangement for each month for one year from Stanleyās Floral Arts and Camfeldtās Flowers, and an opportunity to be the honorary conductor of the national anthem at the opening of the 2009-2010 Santa Maria Philharmonic concert season.
Celebrity magician Rick Ferguson will delight and amaze his audience for the eveningās entertainment.
Tickets cost $100 per person, with table sponsorships at $1,000 for a group of 10. Dress is semi-formal. Reservations are strongly recommended as thereās limited seating. For more information, call 925-0412.
Celebrate at the Adobe
Havenāt had enough of New Yearās celebrations? Want some more? The public is invited to attend the Dana Adobe Nipomo Amigos New Yearās Celebration at 3 p.m. on Jan. 16 at the historic Dana Adobe, 671 South Oakglen Ave. in Nipomo. Special guests will be Assemblyman Sam Blakeslee, as well as various volunteers whoāve worked to save the Adobe and surrounding land.
The event celebrates the expansion of the Dana Adobe land. In partnership with the Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County, Save the Mesa, and the California Cultural and Historical Endowment, plus many local donors, DANA Inc. recently bought and preserved 29 acres surrounding the Adobe for $1,188,000.
