Lompoc block printer Angelina LaPointe is hoping to carry on a 10-year tradition of making her annual calendar of California flora and fauna. But first, her project needs to reach its financial goal.
Her Kickstarter campaign must raise $3,500 before Oct. 16 or it’s a no-go. Crowdfunders will only be charged if the project reaches its goal to become fully funded, and they’d receive their calendars in November or December.
In a video of her work on the campaign site, LaPointe said the project began because she wanted to document the diverse beauty of the landscapes she grew up in.
“What started as a modest, personal project has grown into an ongoing, interconnected body of work sustained by the input, encouragement, and financial backing of this community,” LaPointe said in an email to the Sun.
Known for combining creativity and nature, LaPointe’s designed her 2026 calendar to feature animals that live near her home in the Sta. Rita Hills. Working from photos and videos, the artist draws and carves a block, which ends up inked and printed using a 130-year-old letterpress.
