In the spring, Buellton students put on a production of Annie (pictured), but opportunities for singing and dancing are far from over. This fall, elementary students are invited to sign up for drama workshops made possible by a partnership between Buellton Rec and the Adderley School for the Performing Arts.
“Classes use a method where all kids receive positive mentorship, and all kids have their solo moment onstage to shine,” the city said in a newsletter. “Using songs and scenes from popular Broadway shows and movie musicals, Adderley instructors instill confidence and joy in every student, helping them discover and develop their unique talents and realize their potential onstage and in life!”
For ages 5 to 7, rehearsals for Moana begin on Sept. 11 every Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Buellton Recreation Center (301 2nd St.). Dec. 11 is the last class. The workshop costs $585 and can be paid in three installments.
Wicked is the production that 8-to-11-year-olds will perform. Rehearsals also begin on Sept. 11 and continue every Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Enrollment costs $825 and can be divided up into three installments, too.
Final performances for both age groups are to be determined but are scheduled for the middle of December. Registration is available online at buelltonrec.com.
The Adderley School is a conservatory that has a presence in multiple states including California, Connecticut, and Texas. To learn more about the organization, visit theadderleyschool.org.
