During the term of President Barack Obama, the Republican-controlled House and Seante spared no efforts to nullify any attempts he made to enact legislation for the betterment of the country and its citizens. Now, with President Donald Trump, they are strangely quiet or seem afraid to challenge his erratic behavior.
From all appearances, Mr. Trump is in total control of all matters that relate to his presidency. His actions hardly reflect the so-called ideology of the Republican Party, which at present controls the functions of our government, but their passive response to Mr. Trumpās arbitrary performances as president demonstrates a lack of leadership. Due to Mr. Trumpās personality and mentality, he will continue to perform as he has done in the past. And if challenged, he will take refuge behind his tweets, or respond verbally in an ignorant manner. You have to wonder, where is the Republican leadershipās rebuttal to his antics? Are they afraid to voice oppositions to his actions, or are they reluctant to say anything for fear of making the party look weak? If thatās the concern, theyāre right; a good majority of voting Americans already view them as weak and inept.
To gain the partyās support, Mr. Trump attempts to repeal or cancel many of the accomplishments of President Obama and his administration. And once this lap-dog support is given, itās back to Trump business as usual. The party should be very concerned about his relationship with North Korea. His bullying tactics aimed at North Koreaās leader could involve America in conflict that we would long regret. Itās time the Republican leadership take whatever action is necessary against Mr. Trump, for the benefit of our country and the citizens who voted them into office. But in view of their actions thus far, Americaās best hope is the investigation into Mr. Trumpās association with Russia, and our recent election will result in his being impeached, or heāll have to resign.
