Regarding Norman Mehl’s letter (“I stand by my original opinion,” Jan. 8) in rebuttal to a rebuttal of a letter from Norman:
First of all, I appreciate your Armed Forces service in World War II. And also your service with the space program.
Your comment about Obama was disturbing. Okay, so you are not a fan of his. But to parrot the tired old right-wing argument about his not being an American citizen is very telling about your political slant. He wouldn’t have gotten as far as he’s gotten if there was any question about his legality. So as a senator, he voted the party line. Do you vote the Republican party line? Honestly, do you ever vote for anything that says Democrat?
Personally, I actually read the material about the measures, then I make my decision. I think about things, and don’t let anyone, or any party, tell me how to vote. The blaming of the other side, no matter which side you are on, is going to drive this country down the toilet.
As for the comment about Allan Hancock College, well, I remember when I used to know everything. So you know all about art. Mathematics. Foreign languages. Welding. Fitness. Computer engineering. Astronomy. Rebuilding car transmissions. Contemporary dancing. Photography. Cooking. How about the Mature Driver Improvement class?
My point is: No matter what your age, there is something to learn for everyone, unless you are on your way out and don’t want to learn anything new.
Good luck.
