Your readers deserve to know the truth about Justin Fareed’s latest dishonest ad regarding Salud Carbajal. It proves just how low Justin is willing to go to get elected.
I speak from direct experience. Salud has an outstanding record of consistent opposition to irresponsible oil and gas development while supporting good ideas. He supported the innovative PXP project because the Santa Barbara environmental community did: It represented a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work with industry toward a common goal. The well-crafted arrangement included guaranteed end dates to production, the dismantling of on- and offshore facilities, donations to create green public transit, and more. Salud joined the Sierra Club, the Environmental Defense Center, and the group on whose board I was sitting, Get Oil Out! among others in supporting it.
Enough already! This district deserves better than Justin, a rich 28-year-old kid with no record of any kind who is willing to slander his opponent to get elected. We deserve Salud Carbajal, with his stellar record on environmental issues and history of serving the working and middle classes.
