Regarding ā€œLeft behindā€ (April 26):

It’s a sad story about Rosa. Brought here as an infant, then her father gets deported. Here’s the problem as I see it: He knew he was here illegally. He knew his wife and daughter were here illegally. He had his own business that apparently involved driving. Again, illegally. So for years, he drove without a license, without insurance, and was probably driving a car or truck registered to someone else.

The article talks about people being here just to improve their lives, not hurting anyone, not doing anything wrong, but that is willingly breaking the law, putting those of us who are insured and responsible directly at risk. What about medical insurance? Although it is possible he had medical insurance for his family, I seriously doubt if he did. So off to the emergency room it was. Who paid for that? Everyone who is here legally, that’s who.

Apparently, this country cannot do without cheap immigrant labor. So I figure that there is going to be a path to citizenship, involving amnesty, during the next administration, or the one after that. They’ll legalize them, so they can get their vote. But until then, they are still illegal—oh, excuse me, undocumented.

Like I said, it’s a sad story. But there is no one to blame but himself for putting his daughter’s future in jeopardy.
