Another panga boat (“Officers catch 18 people attempting to smuggle pot into Santa Barbara County via panga,” Sept. 19)? Why are we paying county and federal agencies for our dirty work?

Sorry to say the only message to those panga boat-sending criminals is that Californians are still pot-buying customers, so they’d best find yet another way of supplying that demand. If you find the idea of smugglers coming to our shores appalling, it would behoove you to stop using pot, as well as all other “recreational” drugs.

If it bothers you that so much of our taxes are disappearing down a hole of futility as we try and fail and try and fail again at waging our pathetic drug wars, it would behoove you to stop using pot, as well as all other “recreational” drugs.

There is no “them” vs. “us” if we buy into drug use. “We” are “them.” How can you not understand that by saying yes to even casual use you are saying yes to all the worst criminal behaviors that go into supporting, supplying, and profiteering from that “yes?”

Here, let’s make it simple. If one were to declare it was OK to steal from one’s neighbor, that automatically opens a karmic door to: Therefore, it is OK when one is robbed by one’s neighbor. Or anyone! I just don’t know how to dumb it down more than that. As sincerely as possible. Considering I may well be addressing “two brain cells left” humanity.
