I have the privilege to have a best friend who is Iranian. I have many times heard about the struggles that the people of Iran suffer through on a daily basis. It is no secret to us, what is going on in that country, especially after the events of the election.
Last night, we were talking with a friend who is currently in Iran. He made the statement, “You have no idea what it is like to be beaten, just to be free.” Wow, what a statement that was!
We oftentimes get lost in politics of other countries, and forget to step back and realize they are human beings, just like us. It does not matter what country, religion, race people are, or how in disagreement the countries are with each other. We need to remember the human race, and our common goal: freedom. Be grateful we live in a country where we do not have to be beaten to be free.
