The editors of the Jan. 18 issue of the Sun allowed my small conservative rebuttal letter (“Trump’s bluster gets things done”) to be published in response to the liberal McCalip’s big op-ed (“Trump’s bluster makes U.S. unsafe,” Jan. 11).
So thanks for that.
But then, in the next column over, the Yellow Canary assailed me for my opinion and for calling the Sun a tabloid. Well the Sun is a tabloid as defined by American Heritage Dictionary: “A newspaper of small format giving the news in condensed form—often sensational material.” In Santa Barbara County there are about eight tabloids that are circulated free of charge every week or monthly. There is only one traditional format newspaper in the county and that is the Santa Barbara News-Press, which is published daily and in the traditional print format and size and is obtained for a monthly subscription. The Santa Maria Times and Lompoc Record are somewhere in between. Over the last 35 years I have written thousands of letters and published some of them in many of these publications. So a tabloid is what it is.
And there is no proof that Trump made a “s—hole” comment. I heard “a poor troubled country,” when referring to Haiti. You would not believe what a Democrat said, would you?
And yes, Democrats are radicals—do you see what they are doing to California and everywhere else where they are in charge? Chaos, corruption, degradation, and high taxes are their norms.
And do you really think a loser like Hillary could run this country instead of a very successful billionaire like President Trump, who is doing a great job?
Thanks for your consideration, Yellow Canary.
