The article in your last issue entitled “Meet a Muslim” (March 30) by Brenna Swanston presents a snippet of Islam totally out of context with the real world. It is a touchy-feely article that overlooks the real Islam.

Islam means submission of the brain and body to a political philosophy, not a religion. Islam is a proselytizing philosophy, not a religion. The effort is summed up by Husayn, who states in your article, “If we explain that idiom, then certainly everyone becomes a Muslim.” In their opinion the idiom, “the right choice,” is Islam.

Islam is based on the Arabic language and culture. Its whole motivation in the seventh century was conquest and imposition of Mohammad’s philosophy. There is no choice but submission, or “Islam.”

From the beginning, Islam has been the scourge of the world. All the wars you see around you today are caused by Islam. These are the modern-day versions of those that have gone on for the past 1600 years. Most members are poor and uneducated people. They are not tolerant of other religions. And the Islams will kill you for that.

We should all reflect on the real world when reading Ms. Swanston’s piece. The people she parades across the pages of her article are not to be maligned in any way nor any other religion. But the Islam philosophy has a reputation in world history that cannot be diminished by such a naïve presentation.
