In one sweeping move, the Supreme Court stripped away the Bill of Rights the American people had been guaranteed in the Constitution. When Justices Alito, Kennedy, Scalia, Thomas, and Roberts stamped their approval against citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission, they single-handedly destroyed our party system forever and created a new one called the Corporate Party.
Corporations can now pump untold millions into any and all elections. Their lobbyists can say to those running for office, “You support what we want and we’ll give a million dollars to elect you. Otherwise, we’ll spend millions against you. You choose.”
It is estimated that the largest corporations have annual revenues of $13 trillion and can now tap into this reservoir of wealth and spend as much as they want to elect policy makers who will do their bidding. This also includes the wealth of foreign corporations. America will soon be ruled by some Saudi king, or China, or any combination of Big Oil, Big Pharma, Big Box, Big Banking, Big Insurance, Big Whatever.
The framers of the Constitution feared corporate entities and banned their participation.
The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights speak only of the people. A corporation was not a person until now. This gang of five changed all that.
Our 234-year belief that elections are for humans, not artificial corporate entities, was usurped by these five jurists and created a new class of humans called corporations.
This ruling was the Big One. If the American people don’t rebel against this coup, then 1984 will have truly arrived
